As the NHL season started about a month ago, its always fascinating to see the preparation that goes into the start of the off-season, beginning of a new season, mid-season training and preparing for playoffs. With the lack of pro goalie training content online, we composed a list of videos that breaks down the training between goalie coaches and their starter goalies. When it comes to coaches like Mitch Korn, the Canucks Ian Clarke, and Brian Daccord shaping his own son into now an NHL starter, the information and ways these goalies train is always a treat.

How I Train as an NHL Goalie (Full On-Ice Session) – YouTube
With excellent camera quality and great inside look to the relationship between father and son, Joey Daccord’s youtube channel is a great scope to how NHL goalies training in the off season both on and off the ice.
This video breaks down a private training session with multiple shooters, and focuses on Joey’s hand work, getting his feet set quickly and working on adjusting quickly using short pushes.
Thatcher Demko and Braden Holtby Training with Ian Clarke
Thatcher Demko and Braden Holtby With Goaltending Coach Ian Clark – YouTube
A fantastic video that goes through the maintenance work and simple drills that high level goalies work on with their coaches. Ian Clarke in this video works with two different styles of Demko and Holtby, and breaks the session into footwork and getting set, and also working on some plays the goalies have been struggling at early on in the season.
Mitch Korn training the top Washinton Capitals prospects
Mitch Korn Mic’d Up 7/9/15 – YouTube
An old video from 10 years, though being able to see the creativity of Mitch Korn and the relationships he builds with his goalies, especially the ones from Europe is outstanding. From working with medicine balls, to using both goalies to help each other build gap control in their game, this video is a great showing at how some goalies approach the game.
Honorable Mention
Finngoalie Training
Skating & Edgework Development Progression – YouTube
Finngoalie is a goalie school based out of Halifax, NS and is run by Jack Hartigan, who teaches a great mix of the Finnish style and Canadian style. With lots of old and new content, his details on skating and edgework is top-notch. Although not any NHL level goalie content, his approach to teaching the game and developing young goaltenders is amazing.
Dahan Goaltending – Hockey Goalie School
Not a lot of current posting, though Nick Dahan has posted a handful of quality videos to help understand the relationship more between the goaltender and the coach. Dahan, who runs both private, semi-private, and group training sessions for goalies from youth to the minor pro levels, he is a well respected goalie coach in the Greater Toronto areas and gives out lots of great information free on his youtube channel.
